Midnight Serenade

In the hours of day
She found a perfect way
To hide the state that she is in
They think they know her well
But don’t know how she fell
Into a role she’s never been

At home she hears no sound
‚Cause no one is around
And she feels it’s getting tough
So when nobody calls
She’s screaming at the walls
They just show down to her and laugh

After all these silent tears at night
She hopes it’s not too late
But she’s so tired, she is so tired
Of this midnight serenade
But although this life is cruel to her
And cuts her like a knife
She keeps this dream alive

In the city lights
She often looks inside
The lying depth of hungry eyes
But this is not the love
That she’s been dreaming of
She never chose this compromise

And so the hardest years
With all their pain and fears
Do not seem to have an end
First she was so strong
But now it gets too long
And she yearns after a hand

After all these silent tears at night
She hopes it’s not too late
But she’s so tired, she is so tired
Of this midnight serenade
But although this life is cruel to her
And cuts her like a knife
She keeps this dream alive

I want to heal her and to comfort her sad mind
But just like her I don’t know where she’s to find
So although this life is cruel to her
And cuts her like a knife
She keeps this dream alive
